VDL Groep Zidane

VDL Groep Zidane is a darkbay gelding by topstallion Heartbreaker. He got his schooling at the Stoeterij Duyselshof training stable from James Payne. Together they started from the basics till 1m45 level.

During 2013 a new succesfull combination with Leopold van Asten was formed. They won both the Summer and Winter-edition of the Grand Prix at CSI Casas Novas in La Coruña 2014 and reached several other good results.

They made a very good start of the outdoor season 2015 by winning the Dutch Championships for Showjumping Riders in Mierlo! Continuation of the good performances resulted in being part of the Selection of the Netherlands. With 2 clearrounds Leopold and Zidane made a good contribution to the victory of the Dutch team in the Nations Cup in Falsterbo. In the light of Rio 2016 an agreement with the N.O.P. was confirmed. Although he did not participate in Rio, Leopold and Zidane certainly showed that they did deserve the agreement.

By having good results in the World Cup classes in Bordeaux and Gothenburg they were invited to participate in the World Cup Final 2017 in Omaha. In the preparation for this show they "by the way" managed to win the Rolex Grand Prix at Indoor Brabant. For the jump-off click here..

Since January 2020 VDL Groep Zidane is enjoying his retirement in the fields at Stoeterij Duyselshof.
